Astronaut Space Pen
This is the original Fisher Space Pen that, after two years of testing by NASA, was used on the Apollo 7 space mission in 1968. It has been used on all manned space flights since then.
Due to the patented sealed and pressurized ink cartridge, the pen writes in just about any condition and on almost any surface: underwater or over grease, in extreme temperatures (-30 to +250 F/-35 to +121 C), upside down or floating in a gravity-free zone. The ink cartridge lasts three times longer than the average pen with an estimated 100-year shelf life.
It is a substantial pen; the weight rests reassuringly in your hand as you write. The special design of the click mechanism assures that the point will always be retracted before you slide it in your pocket. The pen is constructed of all brass and steel components and is made in the USA. The cartridge has black ink and a medium point.
The design and construction of this pen has not changed in 36 years. The pen you buy today is the same design as the one taken to the moon in 1969. In addition to all NASA Apollo and Shuttle missions, it is used by the ISS International Space Station, Russian Soyuz and MIR space flights, French ARIANE Space Program, and Everest North Face Ski Expedition.
The pen is packaged in a heavy-duty gift box and includes a pamphlet describing the history of the Fisher Space Pen.
