“Resist much. Obey little.” Ring
This handmade sterling silver ring is stamped with Walt Whitman’s rallying cry for individual and collective liberty: “Resist much. Obey little.” The poem in which the line appears, “Caution,” was first published as one of the “Messenger Leaves” in the 1860 edition of Leaves of Grass. The poem was later retitled “To the States.” Inside the ring is stamped “W. Whitman”
Each letter is stamped, then the silver is oxidized, sanded & polished for a very handmade look. Artist Amy Volchok makes these rings exclusively for The Reader’s Catalog.
Will adjust to fit sizes 6 to 8.
