Galileo Thermometer Paperweight
Wonder at the beauty of science as you watch the colorful glass spheres inside the Galileo Paperweight rise and fall according to the indoor temperature. Metal tags tell both Celsius & Fahrenheit. Glass globe (3" diameter) rests securely on handsome 2-1/4" square wood base. Thermometer is approx 4-1/2" tall.
Galileo Galilei, the pioneer of modern astronomy and physics, discovered that liquids change density as the temperature increases or decreases. Based on this principle, the colored glass spheres inside the paperweight respond to temperature changes. When the temperature rises, the liquid inside the paperweight becomes less dense and the colored spheres floating inside will sink towards the bottom. When the temperature of the room cools, the process is reversed and the spheres will rise from the bottom.Product SKU:
