Shakespeare Signature Tie
A luxurious pure silk tie, fully lined and hand finished in England, features Shakespeare’s signature in dark blue on a cream background. Only six examples of Shakespeare’s signature survive; the signature reproduced on this pure silk tie is based on his signature on the Bellott v. Mountjoy lawsuit, a matrimonial dispute over a dowry. Although the playwright played only a minor role in the dispute, that signature is considered to be the most true to Shakespeare’s actual signature. Of the other surviving signatures, three were made during the last weeks of his life (when he was possibly subject to tremors) and the other two constrained by space (they appeared on wax seals).
