Shakespeare Memory Game
Each of the 24 pairs of cards in this classic memory game features quotations from Shakespeare’s plays. Play this game enough and you’ll start peppering everyday conversation with Shakespearian phrases—“How is it that clouds still hang on you?”; “Why this is very midsummer madness”; “When sorrows come, they come not single spies. But in battalions!” and many more. You can display the 3.5" square cards as art, too, to displayed on mantles and bookshelves. The type on some cards is calligraphic, some typographic; each card conveys the beauty and genius (and fun) of Shakespeare’s writing, thanks to the skill of designer Larry Orlando.
Quotations from these plays are included: King Henry the Fifth, Measure for Measure, Coriolanius, Hamlet, Troiuls and Cressida, Macbeth, King Lear, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, History of Henry VI Part II, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Merchant of Venice, All’s Well That Ends Well, Tempest, Antony and Cleopatra.
Some of our other favorite quotations on the playing tiles include:
“The common curse of mankind—folly and ignorance”
“Action is eloquence”
"Virtue is bold, and goodness never fearful”
“Mind your speech a little, Lest it may mar your fortunes”
“Rich gifts wax poor when givers prove unkind”
The cards are printed on extra thick 14-pt stock and are packed in a storage box decorated with calligraphy and a reproduction of an antique image of The Globe. (3.5" x 3.5").
