Diamond Jubilee Journal

  • $23.95

The glorious design on this 5" x 7" journal was created by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, a world-renowned British bindery celebrated for their jeweled bindings.  Originally crafted in 1922 to house Rudyard Kipling’s “Recessional” poem, written in 1897 for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, the original incorporated real turquoise, aquamarine, and ruby gemstones.  This beautiful binding is now part of the Dallas Public Library’s collection.  It is a literal jewel of a book, bound in a rich red leather inlaid with gemstones, and featuring medieval-style illumination.

Sangorski & Sutcliffe was a world-renowned British bindery best known for the bejeweled cover of Omar Khayyam’s Rubaiyat (also known as the Great Omar), forever lost in the sinking of the Titanic.

This journal has a red ribbon marker and an accordion-style memento pouch.

The binding boards are 100% recycled; the pages are acid-free FSC certified paper.  The binding is Smyth sewn, a traditional technique that results in a sturdy yet flexible book.

5" x 7", 144 lined pages; printed on acid-free sustainable paper; black elastic closure; memento pocket; ribbon marker; Smyth-sewn binding.
