Toddler Gift Collection
Parents will appreciate the contents of our gift collection for two- and three-year-olds as much as the toddler recipient. We’ve filled a tote with all thing literary, designed not only to build vocabulary, but to keep a small person busy. A First Words lift-the-flap book, a touch-and-see ABC book, and an oversized board book with tabs both engage and entertain emerging readers who are just starting to learn the ABCs. Most important of all, our toddler “test group” –the children and grandchildren of editors on our staff—have reached for the books again and again. Also included: a t-shirt with a quote from Walt Whitman and 4 pairs of coordinating Where the Wild Things Are socks, all tucked into a useful “I love books” tote bag. There is no better gift to communicate to a child that books matter.
Inside and Outside with Jojo
Whether it’s learning the days of the week, putting on a coat, or turning a somersault, the little bunny Jojo is the perfect guide to a toddler’s adventures. “Chapters” include “What Jojo can do,” (draw, clap, jump, use kind words); “What Jojo Learns,” (colors, counting, shapes); “Jojo’s Busy Days,” (snack, playgroup, bath); “The Seasons,”
Lift-the-Flap First 100 Words
Right about the same time that toddlers are starting to talk non-stop, their small motor skills enable them to open flaps. This must-have for little learners is the ideal tool for teaching new words. Children will recognize more than 100 eye-catching photographs of food, pets, toys and more from their everyday environment, each with big, bold words printed underneath. Lift-the-Flaps scattered through the interior of the book add interest and surprises! Lift-the-Flap First 100 Words is a great aid for building vocabulary and teaching sight words.
Alphabet Street Book
There's much for a child to discover in this ingenious board book. He or she will open it to find more than eight feet of fun: a story told in funny rhymes, two flaps to lift on each page (each featuring a letter of the alphabet), and a row of little shops populated by charming animals doing funny things. The flip side of the book is a second play scene that can be used as a backdrop for imaginative play.
Resist much. Obey little. Toddler T-shirt
We’ve designed the perfect T-shirt for the toddler who follows Walt Whitman’s rallying cry for individual and collective liberty, “Resist much. Obey little.” The poem in which the line appears, “Caution,” was first published as one of the “Messenger Leaves” in the 1860 edition of Leaves of Grass. The poem was later retitled “To the States.” Size: 3T
Charcoal Grey T-shirt with Yellow writing. 100% cotton. Machine wash cold, non-chlorine bleach only, tumble dry low. Do not iron on decoration, do not dry clean. Not intended for sleepwear.
Wild Things Socks
For Wild Things no matter what his or her age. One sock features our hero Max and the other features the other wild thing on this pair of socks based on Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are; charcoal gray background, white creatures, turquoise accents, and a golden crown for Max, of course. On the bottom of each sock is the pivotal line from the book, “We’ll eat you up we love you so.”
Published in 1963, this winner of the Caldecott Medal has been credited with ushering in the modern age of the picture book; Time magazine commented that “[w]hat makes Sendak’s book so compelling is its grounding effect: Max has a tantrum and in a flight of fancy visits his wild side, but he is pulled back by a belief in parental love to a supper ‘still hot,’ balancing the seesaw of fear and comfort.” Size 2-3 years.
Made of 75% cotton, 20% polyester, and 5% spandex, they feature non-skid soles. Machine wash warm, tumble dry low, no bleach.
