Salts of the Earth Tea Towel

  • $34.95

“Salt is born of the purest parents: the sun and the sea." Pythagoras

The chic and unusual Salts of the Earth Tea towel highlights twelve of the most unique salts from around the world, with their country of origin and description.

Some of the salts included are:

Peru’s Maras, a pink salt from pre-Inca salt pond terraces;

Namibian African Pearls, harvested in the cold Antarctic waters off the coast and formed by winds coming off the desert;

Korea’s Jukyeon, “made by an arduous process of packing bay salt into thick bamboo stems that are then sealed with clay and baked over a pinewood fire” and then repeating the process several times;

The Indian Subcontinent’s Laka Namak, “…widely used in south Asian cuisines…added to chutneys, raitas, and savory snacks…ground to a soft pink to purple color, considered to have Ayurvedic qualities.”

Inspired by traditional English tea towels, each one is made from pure linen to avoid surface lint when drying delicate china and glassware. The towels are printed using silk screens and are cut from running yardage that comes off the loom with selvage sides before the ends are hemmed by hand.

This distinctive towel makes a beautiful addition to kitchen décor; we’ve also seen it used on the table and as a hand towel.

Black ink on white pure linen; 18" x 28"; Made in India.
