Adorning this handmade silk chiffon scarf are all manner of fruits from Phytanthoza Iconographiaan immense work published between 1737 and 1745 by Johann Wilhelm Weinmann, a prosperous Bavarian apothecary who established a botanic garden in Regensburg and set about producing a highly detailed catalog of plants and their uses, with illustrations commissioned from some of the finest engravers of the time.

This scarf is adorned with a cornucopia of fruits and vegetables from the catalog, held by the Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford, and features exquisite illustrations of the edible plants in his historic treasury, a delicious medley of garden produce and exotics that will capture the imagination of gardeners and art-lovers alike.

The hems of the scarf are hand rolled and sewn, not machine stitched. The colors are bright and clear but, because the scarf is chiffon, have a certain transparency. It is easily tied in a variety of ways and is large enough to wear as a light shawl.

71 "x 20". Dry clean only.
