Knowing the Greek alphabet can be surprisingly useful and relevant; this handsome mug is a great place to start. The Greek alphabet was first used to write down the Homeric epics, and it quickly became the standard writing system for the Greek language. It is the basis of many Western alphabets, including ours. Many of the fundamental concepts in the fields of mathematics, science, and philosophy are represented by Greek letters, such as pi in mathematics.
