These playing cards feature colorful and evocative images from the works of Swedish artist Hilma af Klint (1862–1944). 

An artist both of her time and well ahead of it, Hilma af Klint was a rare original. Years before Modernist pioneers Mondrian and Kandinsky dipped into abstraction, af Klint broke ground with colorful, energetic compositions that veered away from the figurative. Influenced by spiritualism, she tried to reconcile art, science, and religious pluralism through her paintings. Determining that the world wasn’t ready, she decreed that her work—now celebrated—not be exhibited until twenty years after her death.

According to the Guggenheim, “When Hilma af Klint began creating radically abstract paintings in 1906, they were like little that had been seen before: bold, colorful, and untethered from any recognizable references to the physical world.”

These high-quality playing cards are made of 250 GSM paper, for just the right ratio of flexibility to sturdiness. They are finished with playing card varnish and linen for a smooth shuffle. Each deck includes fifty-two playing cards and two jokers, plus two additional cards featuring art and an artist bio.
