“Liberty is the chosen resort of the artistic shopper.”—Oscar Wilde
The Tudor revival building on Great Marlborough Street that houses Liberty London, dating from 1924 and founded as an “emporium laden with luxuries and fabrics from distant lands,” is indeed a resort—a haven of sophisticated design, an island of quality, known for both tradition and innovation.
This notecard set features eight of Liberty’s heritage floral prints, drawn from across the store’s vast archive of iconic designs. The archive is a national treasure, encompassing well over 45,000 designs and dating from the 1800s to the present day. Presented in a drawer box, it is an indispensable set to have on hand, not only for those with a penchant for letter writing, but for times when an e-mail just won’t do. Reach for them for a sympathy note, a thank-you note, or a greeting attached to a bunch of tulips dropped off for a sick friend. The envelopes (including one extra) have a floral pattern on the inside as well.
An aside: the Liberty London website has a charming self-guided tour through the historic building: https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/information/our-heritage.html
