This vintage-style birthday card collection includes eight cards featuring four different designs that provide some old-school fun and nostalgia for simple celebrations.

Printed in England on an uncoated, light cream 300 gsm Italian paper, which is recyclable, biodegradable, and FSC certified. These greeting cards are 170 mm x 120 mm (approximately 5" x 7") and blank inside, individually wrapped in a compostable wrapper made from plants, with a 100% recycled, 110 gsm kraft envelope.

Typographic Birthday: Typography Happy Birthday card, specimen type adapted from the Condensed specimen book from the Boston Type Foundry (1860).

Birthday Crossword: Birthday-themed, concise crossword puzzle birthday card. 

Chemistry of Birthday Candle: Birthday card illustrating the chemistry of a candle and structure of its flame. Adapted from the “Chemistry of Combustion and Illumination” in The Chemical Atlas Designed for the Use of Students and Pupils in all Schools Where Chemistry is Taught (1854) by Edward L. Youmans.

Johnson’s Dictionary Birthday: Birthday card adapted from a page of Samuel Johnson’s Dictionary of 1755. Compiled by Johnson alone over a period of ten years, his dictionary is a towering achievement of scholarship and one of the most important books ever published, since for the first time “words are deduced from their originals, and illustrated in their different significations by examples from the best writers.” Source image courtesy of the Wellcome Library.
